Avocados – Avocados are a rich source of monounsaturated fats which are heart healthy. Watch your portion size though! They are high in calories.
Berries – Antioxidants such as anthocyanins (flavonoids) protect against inflammation. Inflammation contributes to the development of heart disease. Blackberries, blueberries and strawberries all are rich in anthocyanins.
Green Leafy Vegetables – You can’t get much better sources of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants than spinach, kale and collard greens (without added fat).
Olive Oil –Use in limited amounts (still 100 calories/ tablespoon) however it has both monounsaturated fats and antioxidants to reduce inflammation.
